FAQ

  • Can I populate the system with 'old data' in a different format?
    • Yes, as long as the record is complete, ie stackup, materials, scales used and measurements are available. It is always possible to add old data manually. It may also be possible via a 'custom' interface (cost option) to import data.
  • Can the system assist with cross-section analysis?
    • Yes, there is a dedicated 3D X-Section module designed to give realtime non-destructive microsection data.
  • If I change measurement machine, can I still use the system?
    • Yes, XACT currently have an interface to all latest generation xray and vision drill systems.
  • If I inadvertently store poor measurement data can I remove it?
    • Yes, there is a function to remove individual panel(s) within a batch.
  • Can I get my system pre-populated with data to make predictions straight away?
    • Yes, however it is not usually appropriate as the system is designed to 'learn' how specific materials behave in the installed location.
  • What do I do if get a 'low confidence' prediction?
    • The system needs data (history) in the database in order to make a prediction. If there is insufficient data to make a high confidence prediction then the Engineering Department should assess the individual job.
  • Can the system identify seasonal variation in scales?
    • Yes, using the statistical analysis package, XPlain it is possible to look at trends over an extended period of time.
  • Can I limit the amount of scale applied at drill?
    • Yes, the system will drive product to nominal at drill. It is possible to set the maximum amount of scale to be applied or set drill scale to zero.
  • Is it possible to automate data collection?
    • Yes, the system can be fully automated using an API or bespoke polling programs.
  • Can we have email alerts if there is missing stackup data or a job fails?
    • Yes, with the automation modules it is possible to set up email alerts (and to smartphones) which show system alarms.
  • How much data do I need before I see high confidence predictions?
    • Usually after the system has seen the same materials (thickness, construction, copper weight, distribution, adjacent prepreg) three times with consistent results there should be sufficient data for the prediction engine to make a high confidence prediction.
  • Do I need to measure every panel?
    • No, to teach the system's predictive database it isn't necessary to measure every panel. If individual reactive measurements are required, each panel will need to be measured.
  • How do I cope with multiple lots of the same part number?
    • The system stores each 'lot' using a unique work order (batch/lot) number.
  • Is there a maximum layer count, size or technology that the system can cope with?
    • No, as long as you have the ability to measure 'layer' specific targets.
