Gemini X - Linear +

Description/Benefits

The Linear+ series of modules take the registration system to a completely new level.

At the heart of this system is a powerful self-learning model constantly analysing design and measurement information contained in an extensive database. As result, the model is able to determine the material movement that will occur with any PCB design according to the combination of materials and processing parameters used.

The database is automatically populated with data captured from the measurement systems throughout the manufacturing process and combined with the relevant design information from the front end engineering department.

An engineering stack-up model offers a fast and professional way to enter design information, run design rule check and interrogate the self-learning model to determine compensation values. The design information is the combined with measurement results in process and fed back to the database for adaptive tuning of the model.

The continuous learning capability of the system ensures that the compensation information provided is always reflecting the current status of the manufacturing processes. Without such a system compensations applied to the tooling are limited to the knowledge base at the time of the last review of the rules. Reviewing compensation rules is time consuming and requires either additional or transfer of resources.

Previous "automated" systems have only been capable of providing compensation information for designs that match previously manufactured product - this system calculates the influence of each individual component with a design so that compensation values can be calculated for any combination of these components whether manufactured previously or not. This enables new materials or processes to be incorporated easily and accurately without extensive manufacturing trials.

The figures below show a typical inner layer scale factor compensation system compared with the significant advantages offered by the Gemini X Linear+ system.

Features Modules

Engineering Stack-up Module

  • Provides quick and easy entry of design information via drop down menus.
  • Custom menus can be created via easy to use material libraries.
  • Existing material libraries may be purchased or custom libraries created.
  • Automatic design rule checks during data entry.
  • Warning messages displayed instantly where yields may be compromised.
  • Clear information layout provides easy communication of possible yield issues with customers before commitment to manufacture.

Measurement Database
  • Stand-alone module and can be installed on any platform to suit the user.
  • Automatic population from shopfloor measurement systems.
  • Automated communication with the modelling module at the end of each calculation.
  • Can be purchased ready populated with generic data available via license from previous installations or automatically populated from electronic data already held from those PCB manufacturers that have been collating data.
Self-Learning Model
  • Ensures front-end engineering departments have access to the latest compensation information direct from the manufacturing processes.
  • No time and resource consuming recalculation of compensation rules.
  • Materials information for the calculations is provided via the same suite of materials libraries used in the stack-up module.
